Corridor of the Coats of Arms
This corridor connects buildings constructed in different periods: the palaces of King João I and Philippa of Lancaster (15th century) and of King João III (16th century), the Room of the Coats of Arms (16th century) and the entrance to the old palace of King Dinis and Isabel of Aragon (13th century), the oldest section of the entire building.
The objects displayed in this room bear witness to the abiding nature of the Portuguese royal house’s coat of arms over more than 700 years and its continuity in the Republic: red border, gold castles and blue shields with silver bezants.
