This was both the living room of the Countess of Edla and Ferdinand II and where they would receive their visitors. The idea of transporting nature to within the built chalet environment was reinforced by the plaster ornamentation that depicts climbing ivy in a fairly naturalist fashion. This connection to the exterior was further highlighted by the habit of leaving the French windows open and thereby extending the ambience into the garden.
