Monuments in the Sintra Hills closed - 15 to 19 September 2024

We inform our visitors that on September 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2024, the Park and National Palace of Pena, the Moorish Castle, the Convent of the Capuchos and the Park and Palace of Monserrate will be closed due to high risk of forest fire.

The Red Alert issued by ANEPC – National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, due to the high risk of forest fires in the region, mandates the closure of the forest perimeter of the Sintra Hills from 1 pm on September 15, 2024, which determines the prohibition of access, circulation and permanence within the forest areas, as well as in forest paths, rural paths and other roads that cross them, with a view to guaranteeing the safeguarding of the natural and cultural heritage and the safety of people and assets.

Because they are located in the forest perimeter of the Sintra Hills and since the respective accesses and permanence in the corresponding area are prohibited to the population, the Park and National Palace of Pena, the Moorish Castle, the Convent of the Capuchos and the Park and Palace of Monserrate will be closed.

The National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz remain open during this period, with no changes to their normal operation.

IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A TICKET FOR THE CLOSED MONUMENTS ON THESE DATES:

• If you have purchased your ticket online to visit the parks and monuments three or more days in advance, you can change the date and time (if applicable) of your ticket up to 6 pm on the day before your visit, under the same conditions as when you made your purchase. To do this, simply access the ticket purchase area on the Parques de Sintra website and provide the invoice number and the email with which you made the purchase. Rescheduling the ticket for other dates is only possible within a maximum period of 365 days after the original date of use associated with your ticket.
• If you purchased your ticket at physical ticket offices (ticket offices with in-person services and / or automatic ticket vending machines), it is not possible to change the date and / or time of your ticket.
