Description
This guided tour explores life at the convent and the friars’ relationship with nature. The Convent of Santa Cruz da Serra de Sintra, known for the extreme poverty of its construction, embodies the ideals of fraternity and universal brotherhood espoused by the Franciscan friars who lived there from the 16th century to the late 19th century, when it was abandoned following the banning of religious orders brought about by the liberal regime.
