Alexandre Frazão 'Quintessência'

Alexandre Frazão, possibly one of the most prolific drummers in Portuguese jazz, is finally making his solo debut. It would have been easy for him to call upon a galaxy of star names in order to achieve guaranteed popularity. However, Frazão has decided to take a risk, surrounding himself with young musicians with a view to sowing seeds and thereby ensuring that Portuguese jazz will be in good hands in the future. Sharing the limelight, or even leaving it to others, has never been a problem for the drummer, and is something that results from his intrinsic generosity. Alexandre Frazão drew on that characteristic motivation of his to spark a dynamism and energy that drove the experimentation and creation needed to collectively produce ‘Quintessência.’
