Margarida Campelo 'Supermarket joy'
‘Supermarket Joy’ marks the start of Margarida Campelo's solo career as a composer, multi-instrumentalist and arranger. The album, produced by Bruno Pernadas and released by Discos Submarinos, features 14 songs (13 originals and one cover) in which the profusion of influences - ranging from pop to dance music, R&B, experimental jazz and neo soul - reveal an artist secure in her originality and one with a unique musical identity in the Portuguese music scene.
Over the course of her 15-year career, Margarida Campelo has established herself as one of the most sought-after figures in the new generation of Portuguese music. She has collaborated on some of the most exciting Portuguese projects, including with Bruno Pernadas, Cassete Pirata, Joana Espadinha, Minta & the Brook Trout and Julie & the Carjackers. These experiences have resulted in enduring and enriching partnerships, which have greatly contributed to the development of her musical skills and which now culminate in this solo debut, the result of a natural process of artistic growth and an increasing desire to explore her own musical areas.
