For the penultimate concert of Jazz at Monserrate 2023, we once again opened space for the spoken word, accompanied by the sounds of jazz, for which two of the most influential protagonists of the Portuguese music scene over the last 40 years were invited. Adolfo Luxúria Canibal (voice) and Carlos Barretto (double bass) come together for a concert around texts and poems from the universe of the publishing house Abysmo, in what is an unprecedented collaboration throughout these artists’ careers. The concert is composed of themes and improvisations by Carlos Barretto and poems by Valério Romão, José Manuel Simões, Ana Freitas Reis, José Anjos and Georg Trakl, among others, through the voice of Adolfo Luxúria Canibal. A unique encounter among sound and word by two great performers.
