In the Palace of Sintra with the Queen
In a re-enacted visit, participants explore the grounds of the National Palace of Sintra in the company of Queen Maria Pia of Savoy. As the last queen to spend the night in this royal palace before the establishment of the Republic, she knows the stories, legends and mysteries of this place better than anyone else. What was life like for the last generations of the Portuguese royal family in this palace? How did they have fun? How were these spaces used in the past? Participants thus have the opportunity to learn a little more about the history of Portugal and of Sintra in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, through this incomparable figure.
