Sintra monuments offer free multimedia audio guides
09 Jan 2025
Parques de Sintra begins 2025 with a new initiative that will make visits to the monuments under its management even more accessible and enriching. Starting this January, visitors to the National Palaces of Pena, Sintra, and Queluz; the Palace of Monserrate; the Moorish Castle; the Convent of the Capuchos; and the Chalet of the Countess of Edla can benefit from free and unlimited access to multimedia audio guides available via the Zoomguide app. This digital tool, powered by artificial intelligence, is exclusively designed for mobile devices. Visitors simply need to visit www.zoomguide.app, select the monument, and access the corresponding audio guide.
Available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French, Zoomguide offers an innovative way to learn more about the monuments, their historical figures, and their collections. The app features multimedia content, including images, texts, and audio files, all developed by Parques de Sintra’s researchers and curators. Content can also be downloaded in advance for a fully offline experience, eliminating the need for an internet connection during the visit.
At the National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz, visitors can also use the “scan” mode to point their devices at collection items and instantly access related information, thanks to integrated artificial intelligence.
In the gardens of the National Palaces of Queluz and Sintra, the Park of Monserrate, and the surrounding area of the Convent of the Capuchos, the app provides map navigation with geolocation in both 2D and 3D versions.
The project is part of the Mobilising Agenda “ATT - Accelerating and Transforming Tourism,” with Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua SA as a partner entity. It is supported by the RRP – Recovery and Resilience Plan and the European Union’s Next Generation EU funds (more information at: www.recuperarportugal.gov.pt).
