Parques de Sintra wins the award for "Best Cultural Destination" in the world at the World Luxury Travel Awards

For the second consecutive year, Parques de Sintra has been named the “Best Cultural Destination” in the world, at the World Luxury Travel Awards 2024. The announcement was made during the official trophy award ceremonies that took place in Bali, Indonesia, on 16 October, and in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on the 19 October.

Reaffirming Sintra's positioning as a landmark cultural destination at an international level, the award recognises the decisive role that Parques de Sintra has played in the conservation, enhancement and promotion of the most important heritage assets that constitute the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995.

As visitor feedback forms the basis of the World Luxury Travel Awards, winning this award attests to the quality of the experience of visiting the 11 parks and monuments that the company has under its care, which include the Park and National Palace of Pena; the National Palaces of Sintra and Queluz; the Chalet of the Countess of Edla; the Moorish Castle; the Park and Palace of Monserrate; the Convent of the Capuchos; and the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art. Throughout its 24-year history, Parques de Sintra has worked to provide public enjoyment of this valuable heritage, boosting its tourist value.

The nominees for the 146 categories of the World Luxury Travel Awards - divided into the themes “Air”, “Water”, “Land”, “Destination” and “Lifestyle” - are selected by an independent jury, whose choices are based on the evaluation carried out by those who visit the sites, taking into account criteria such as service excellence, attention to detail and efficiency, among many others.

The online voting phase follows, during which both tourism industry professionals and the general public choose their favourites.

The World Luxury Travel Awards were created in 2019 to distinguish companies that stand out for their excellence in the luxury travel sector and within the tourism industry, providing them with the international recognition they deserve.
