Parques de Sintra has just launched a free app to enrich the portfolio of digital experiences available to visitors. "Monserrate Maps" is a new tool for mobile devices that guides and supports visits to the Park of Monserrate.
Available in Portuguese, English and Spanish, the app can be accessed through QR codes displayed at the entrance and throughout Park of Monserrate. Once in the app, visitors can see their location in real time and find out how to get to any point of interest. The app also recommends must-see points of interest and provides accompanying images and informative text. Visitor facilities such as toilets, the cafeteria and the shop are also signposted.
Depending on the time available for the visit and the desired route, three routes are suggested: the gardens route is approximately 1,300 metres long and takes an hour; the Palace route is the shortest, at around 500 metres, and takes 20 minutes; the inclusive route, for visitors with reduced mobility, is around 700 metres long and takes approximately half an hour.
All the suggested routes are in line with the new signage installed in the Park of Monserrate with the aim of improving the visiting experience for different audiences. Each signpost includes QR codes that let visitors know where they are and how to get to any other point of interest.
The "Monserrate Maps" application also includes a search area and another for information such as timetables and prices.
Soon, the Park of Pena and the Gardens of the National Palace of Queluz will also offer this new digital experience.
