Parques de Sintra celebrates International Youth Day with free entry for young people

07 Aug 2023

On 12 August, International Youth Day, Parques de Sintra is once again joining in the celebrations and granting free entry to young people up to the age of 18 to all the parks and monuments under its management (with the exception of the National Palace of Pena). To benefit from free admission, young people must go to the ticket offices of the places they want to visit and show their National ID Card.

At a time when the ecological transition is at the top of the agenda, the UN is dedicating this year's International Youth Day to the theme "Green skills for youth: towards a sustainable world". Aware of the critical importance of shifting towards an environmentally sustainable world, not only to respond to the global climate crisis, but also to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Parques de Sintra has placed sustainability and environmental protection at the top of its strategic priorities. With regard to children and young people specifically, the company has carried out various environmental education projects and pays special attention to these issues in its programme.

Celebrated since 1999, International Youth Day celebrates the transformative potential of young people in society and in the pursuit of social, economic and environmental sustainability. The commemorative initiatives in Portugal are organised by the Portuguese Youth Institute (IPDJ).
